Obedience vs. Disobedience

If you love me, obey me (John 14:15). What is God saying here? If you love Him, you will obey His word. What does this mean to you? To me it’s simple, it’s kind of like your parents, if you love them you will show them by obeying them. What’s the benefit in obedience? Obedience helps keep us out of trouble. keeps us focused, and saves us from unnecessary heart ache. Another example is how we are at work, we obey our boss because we understand their position of authority and we know the money we make from our jobs enable us to take care of ourselves and our families. God is so fair in the fact that He will bless your obedience to Him. The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruinbecause of the evil you have done in forsaking him (Duet. 28:20). Here, God is showing just how fair He is. It is proof positive that you will reap what you sow. If you sow disobedience not only will you suffer the consequences but you also pass it on down through the generations, which means you will reap it. How can we expect our children or people we are in authority over to obey and respect us when we don’t do it ourselves with God? When we are disobedient we are showing God that we do not trust Him enough to obey Him. This also goes to show what my First lady from my first church taught me; Partial obedience is total disobedience! God wants your all as He gave to you when He gave His son as ransom for a debt He didnt owe, a debt you could never repay Him. Remember, God gave us His best and the least we could do is give Him our best. No, our best will never add up to His best but all He wants is our best. God Bless you!
